Dr. Deana Deichert

Instructor of Mathematics

Dr. Deana Deichert is a regular instructor of mathematics at Montgomery County Community College. Dr. Deichert is an award-winning teacher with a variety of teaching experience: 6 years as a middle school mathematics teacher, homeschool teacher for her 3 children, online tutor and more than 20 years of teaching mathematics and mathematics education at the collegiate level. Her passion and research interest is in the teaching and learning of proportional reasoning. She has presented at the national, state, and local level. Her favorite saying is that “Mathematicians are Lazy – we are always trying to find an easier way of doing things.”

Jared Campbell is an educational consultant with the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) in Harrisburg. Before working at PaTTAN, he taught high school mathematics and served as a district curriculum coordinator for math and science. He currently serves as the statewide lead consultant for PaTTAN’s Mathematics Initiative in addition to work with multi-tiered systems of support.

Currently I am the Mathematics Curriculum Advisor, Bureau of Teaching and Learning in the Division of Instructional Quality, for the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Previously I have been the Assistant High School Principal, Bermudian Springs School District and a Mathematics Teacher, Spring Grove Area School District. I have Military experience of: Five years active duty for the US Army and a Communications Specialist and eleven years’ experience with the PA National Guard as a Communication Specialist and Commissioned Officer. My Educational experience is the following: The Pennsylvania State University, Harrisburg and York, Pennsylvania : Masters in Teaching and Curriculum and Principal Certification. My undergraduate work was at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Clarion, Pennsylvania with B.S. Education with certification in Mathematics and Physics, B.S. Mathematics, and B.S. Physics.

  • Amanda Cole

    Reading Specialist/Math Instructor

    Amanda has been teaching for 13 years and has spent the last two years as an IU 13 Reading Specialist/Math Instructor. Before coming to IU13, Amanda taught middle school learning support and intermediate reading intervention, and served as a special education consultant for grades K-4 in the Manheim Township School District. Amanda has a Master’s in Education and absolutely loves to learn! She enjoys reading professional books, attending seminars, watching webinars, and listening to podcasts that will help to perfect her teaching craft.

    I am in my 20th year of teaching. Twelve of those years have been as a reading and math intervention teacher for the IU13. Previously I taught several different grades as a regular classroom teacher and spent time as a math coach. I am certified to teach math grades K-8. I have a Master’s of Science in Reading as well as a Masters of Education. I reside in York, PA with my 3 children.

    Polly has been working for IU13 for 5 years and has taught middle-level math for 4 years. She enjoys watching students learn and grow in their knowledge and differentiating for them.

    Reading Specialist/Math Instructor at IU13

    Janelle has been working at IU13 for 6 years and has taught middle level math for 10 years. She enjoys helping students become more confident in their math abilities and watching them experience "aha" moments in math.

    Reading Specialist/Math Instructor at IU13

    Rose Licht is finishing her 2nd year as a reading specialist/math instructor for IU13, and has been teaching for a total 26 years. Before teaching for the IU, she worked at Manheim Central School District where she served in several roles, such as a special education teacher, 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, math specialist, and reading specialist. She loves helping students achieve that “A HA” moment when they grasp a concept. She is a HUGE Dr. Seuss fan and can quote many of his books.

    Eileen is currently finishing up her 9th year in the Reading/Math Program at the IU13. Prior to being a specialist, she taught for two years in NY as an Elementary Autistic Support Special Education teacher. After moving to PA, she began teaching within the Special Education Department at IU13 for eight years teaching High School Emotional Support, Elementary Life Skills Support, and Elementary Autistic Support. She holds her general education, special education, reading specialist, special education supervisory, and principal certifications. Recently, she obtained her doctorate through the Leadership program at Immaculata University.

  • Kelley Sloss

    Reading Specialist/Math Instructor at IU13

    My name is Kelley Sloss- I began teaching 1st and then 2nd grade at Octorara in 1988-1995. I then took a child-rearing time and got hired as a Reading Specialist/Math instructor in 2003 at the IU after working in Columbia School District as a writing coach for a year. I have worked at many nonpublic schools and love all the reading and math that I have done.

    Reading Specialist at IU13

    My name is Michelle Stephens and I'm a Reading Specialist/Math Instructor for IU13. I have been a reading and math intervention teacher at Our Mother of Perpetual Help School in Ephrata for the past 12 years. I teach students in grades kindergarten to eighth. Teaching math skills to struggling math students is challenging, yet so rewarding. I love to see students move from struggling math student to confident math student.
